The American Samoa-based tuna cannery, Star Kist Samoa, is hoping to meet the Governor and Attorney General shortly to discuss the difficulties in recruiting staff.

Star Kist needs 150 people for its production line.

Star Kist General Manager Brett Butler said that the company's latest recruitment drive to give away free tuna in an effort to attract potential employees resulted in only 30 people being hired.

Mr Butler says the company wants to discuss immigration issues affecting potential employees with government officials.
