The Samoa government says it will pay out redundancy packages for Polynesian Airlines employees shortly.
The redundancies at the government-owned airline follows the formation of a new airline, Polynesian Blue.
The new airline, which is expected to start operating on October the 29th, is a joint venture between Polynesian Airlines and Virgin Blue, with each holding a 49-percent stake.
Aggie Grey Resorts is to hold the remaining two percent.
Our correspondent, Monica Miller, says the acting prime minister, Fiame Naomi Mataafa, made reference to redundancies last Friday.

The acting prime minister said I expect the postition to be offered in the new airline will soon be finalised, and the redundancy packages to be made available to Polynesian employees will be revealed. And she said the redundancy packages will be funded through the government's budget. 21
