Sir Geoffrey Henry loses CPA chair vote

The former Cook Islands Prime Minister Sir Geoffrey Henry has lost his bid for a post at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.

Sir Geoffrey was vying for the chair of the CPA's executive committee, which was voted on today by committee members at the plenary conference in Fiji.

The winner of the vote was Hashim Abdul Halim, the parliamentary speaker for the Indian state of West Bengal, with 188 votes while Sir Geoffrey came second with 73 votes.
