Samoa doctors refuse talks over pay claim

The Samoa Medical Association says the country's doctors will go on strike on Friday unless the government finds what it calls " an amicable and satisfactory solution" to their pay demands.

The doctors want the government to implement a pay rise the association asked for last year.

The association had been invited to a meeting with the chief executive of the Public Service Commission to discuss the threatened strike but members voted against attending the meeting.

The Assistant Secretary of the association Dr. Navy Collins told the Samoa Observer newspaper that doctors are frustrated with fruitless meetings and want their pay demand to be approved immediately.
