The Fiji government senator jailed for life, Ratu Inoke Takiveikata, and the jailed former deputy Speaker of parliament, Ratu Rakuita Vakalalabure, have filed appeals against their sentences.
Takiveikata is serving a life term for inciting the November 2000 army mutiny which claimed eight lives while Vakalabure is in prison for six years for taking an illegal oath to join George Speight's failed administration.
Radio Legend reports that the two have applied to have their sentences quashed on the grounds that they were denied a fair trial.
Their lawyer, Iqbal Khan, says he has lodged the necessary papers in the High Court.
Mr Khan says the assessors in the trials were handpicked and there could be a perception of bias.
