Guadalcanal Provincial Government says thousands affected by Weather Coast flooding

The Guadalcanal Provincial Government in Solomon Islands says it estimates at least 20,000 people have been affected by floods on the Weather Coast last week.

The provincial government, along with the National Disaster Management Office and the Red Cross, is assessing damage.

Officials were sent to the affected areas last Friday and Deputy Premier, Stephen Panga, says they will send the necessary emergency relief supplies once a full damage report is received.

"Its the populated area, and also one of they economical area especially agriculture. And when its been hit by the flooding, they lost most of the food gardenings, and root crops and also they lost other belongings as well. 18"
