Fiji's military commander says the military will not allow any more coups in the country.

Radio Legend says Commodore Bainimarama issued the warning in response to government senator Mohammed Apisai Tora's threat in the Upper House that there will be instability if indigenous Fijian political parties do not win next year's elections.

Commodore Bainimarama says the military stands united to ensure there is no further instability.

He says the military would like to say to Mr Tora and people like him that it has learnt its lesson.

He says there will be no civilian coup if any other party besides the SDL or the Conservative Alliance wins the next election.

Commodore Bainimarama says when the time comes the military will ensure that Fiji is not threatened by this small group of people.
