American Samoa watchdog questions power company appointments

1:43 pm on 15 August 2005

The watch dog group, Common Cause of American Samoa, has written to the territorial Senate raising questions about appointments to senior positions at the government-owned American Samoa Power Authority or ASPA.

The group is concerned that proper checks were not made before the appointment of John Marsh to the post of chief financial officer and interim Chief Executive Officer.

The group's president, Taimane Johnson, called on the governor to dissolve the board and appoint new members.
