Fiji nurses close to agreeing to return to work

8:19 pm on 8 August 2005

Fiji's 1,300 striking nurses may return to work tomorrow morning after reaching a settlement with the Public Service Commission over a range of grievances.

The nation-wide strike entered its fifth day today after negotiations between the Nurses Association and the PSC at the weekend failed to resolve all the issues.

But additional talks today appear to have settled all but one greivance and association officials and the PSC are understood to be signing off an agreement about now.
