The Methodist Church in Samoa has presented 150,000 US dollars to the new dialysis centre at the Tupua Tamasese National Hospital.

The money was raised from donations of church members in Samoa, American Samoa, Australia and New Zealand.

Samoa's Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele thanked the church and said the donation will be of great assistance to the government in treating the disease which is rapidly spreading in Samoa.

The Prime Minister also urged people of Samoa to practice good eating habits and avoid unhealthy foods which cause diabetes.

At present 18 people including some who have returned from New Zealand, are being treated at the Dialysis clinic.
