New Caledonia will host the 2011 South Pacific Games following a vote by the Games Council in Palau.
The French Territory won the right to stage the Pacific 's biggest sports event after a three-way contest with American Samoa and Solomon Islands.
For New Caledonia the win is the culmination of a long campaign to bring the games back to Noumea which last hosted the event in 1987.
