The bodies of four Papua New Guinean fishermen have been found on the country's south coast after their boat capsized in rough seas in the Torres Strait.

The four were in a party of 10 fishermen who set out for the Warrior Reefs near Bobo Island on July the 18th.

Authorities say while four bodies have been found, bad weather has hampered the search for the missing men.

One man from the fishing party, Paul Damabe, was able to swim to the PNG mainland in his lifejacket and is recovering in Daru Hospital in Western Province after being found unconscious on the shore by villagers.
