The Attorney General's Office in American Samoa is to file criminal charges against two other police officers involved with the alleged assault of two young men arrested last Christmas.

Police Lt. Tulele Laolagi has already been charged in connection with alleged police brutality against Potasi Taise and Lafaele Petelo.

The asssistant attorney general, Don Pitzer, says while the attorney general's office supports local law enforcement personnel in the very difficult job they do on island, they also recognize the need for professionalism in all aspects of their duties.

He says charges against the other two officers allegedly involved in the case will be filed as soon as the investigation is completed.
