Solomons launches Trade and Cultural Show

A float parade through the center of Solomon Islands capital Honiara and Cultural performances will kick off the 2005 National Trade and Cultural Show today.

The Governor General and Patron of the National Trade and Cultural Show, Sir Nathaniel Waena will officially open the show.

Following the official opening, cultural groups and musical bands will take center stage as the Trade Exhibits, the Government Department stalls and Food Stalls open to the public.

Mr Douglas Strahan, Chairman of the Trade Show Committee, said the committee is estimating about 5,000 to 8,000 people to go through the grounds every day but this is expected to get to above the 10,000 mark on July 7th when the country celebrates its 27th anniversary of independence.
