New Zealand's High Commissioner to Vanuatu says it could be a few more days before the body of a New Zealand girl killed in a shark attack can be flown home.

Seven year-old Alysha Webster from Whitianga was on holiday with her family when the attack happened at a beach on a small island near Malekula Island.

The High Commissioner in Vanuatu, Paul Willis, says his staff is working closely with the family and agencies in the capital Port Villa to bring the family and Alysha home.
