A committee has been formed in Papua New Guinea to co-ordinate relief efforts to villages after the eruption of Mount Langila on the island of New Britain.
The committee, made up of National Disaster Management officials, provincial government and local volunteers, is helping distribute emergency relief supplies such as food, water and medicines.
More than 3,000 people from six villages have been affected.
NDMO director, Colonel Eric Ani, says ashfall continues to ruin people's houses, food crops, and local water sources.
He says the committee is also checking on people's health, with complaints of people having respiratory problems, sore eyes, skin rashes, diarrhoea and pneumonia.
"People are a bit worried, they're panicky, fear is there in the communities, but there is a committee talking to them and working with them."
