A man was shot dead in Vatia in American Samoa this morning.
The dead man, Susunu Faaola, was allegedly shot at close range by his wife shortly before noon today.
The deputy commissioner of Public Safety, Mike Fuiava, confirmed reports from Vatia residents that the wife walked into the Faaola family home and shot her husband.
She then rushed off in her car.
Residents alerted police and the woman was arrested this afternoon.
The couple is believed to have been estranged.
A woman who looks after the victim's elderly mother was also shot and is said be in a stable condition at the hospital.
