Fuel surcharges on domestic flights in Fiji

10:16 am on 14 April 2005

Domestic airlines in Fiji want to impose fuel surcharges on local air fares similar to the ones imposed by most international airlines.

Radio Legend reports that the move follows surging fuel prices on the international market which have reached nearly 60-US dollars a barrel.

SUN AIR has confirmed that local airlines will be having a meeting with the Air Transport Price Control Board to raise ticket prices.

The minister for transport, Simione Kaitani, says he will deal with fuel surcharges once the airlines make a formal approach.
