Ninety more Fiji soldiers are to be sent to the Middle East for duty with the United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq.
In a special meeting, Fiji's Cabinet approved the deployment of two guard units to provide security at the UN facilities in Basra and Erbil.
The guard force is expected to comprise of 80 per cent regular force and 20 per cent territorial force.
Cabinet agreed that salaries and part of allowances and pre-deployment costs are to be met by the military's 2005 budget.
There are currently 134 Fiji soldiers in Iraq serving with the UN.
