The University of the South Pacific is to run a new software development course in partnership with the United Nations University next month.

The two week Rigorous Approach to Industrial Software Engineering, or RAISE course, is run by the U.N. University's International Institute for Software Technology or IIST, in Macao.

The USP's Dr Marko Schultz, says its the first time the course is being offered in the region.

He says they hope to integrate the new software into the university's curriculum.

"I look forward to having this course here and I hope that it will benefit the region to a great extent and I hope that we find a lot of very interested and very keen people interested in employing this methodology in their day to day work."

The RAISE course will run at USP's Laucala campus in Suva, from the 7 to 18th of February.
