Eighty-four unclaimed bodies at the Port Moresby General Hospital morgue in Papua New Guinea, are being prepared for a mass burial to be held later this week.
The National newspaper reports most of the unclaimed bodies are of people who died in the hospital from HIV/Aids.
A morgue attendant says most of the bodies were left by relatives, who didn't want the stigma associated with HIV/Aids, and others were left by relatives who didn't want to pay funeral costs.
The bodies have accumulating since the last mass burial in June last year and the morgue has no more space to accommodate them.
Amongst the unclaimed bodies are said to be 65 adults, and 18 babies.
