Solomon's Governor General urges all leaders to be accountable and transparent

Solomon Islands Governor General, Nathaniel Waena, is calling on all leaders to be transparent and more accountable in 2005, within their own families, tribes, churches and most especially in government.

In his New Year's Message, Mr Waena said leaders must win the hearts and confidence of those they represent.

The Solomons Broadcasting Corporation reports the the Governor General said leaders needed to lead by good personal example.

Mr Waena appealed to all leaders to be mindful of the expectation of the ordinary people in the New Year and to avoid raising false expectations.

He said Solomon Islands leader must be sincere, trustworthy, transparent and accountable.
