PNG Freedom Pati slams Telikom board sacking

2:14 pm on 10 December 2004

The People's Freedom Pati president Moses Murray has described the sacking of the Papua New Guinea Telikom board by State Enterprises and Information Minister, Dr Puka Temu, as most irresponsible.

Mr Murray claims the sacking was done to conceal the truth regarding matters of public importance relating to the proposed sale of a public asset.

He has warned that the Telikom sale episode may have been used by a group of political leaders to fight their rivals.

Mr Murray calls on the Ombudsman Commission to immediately intervene and investigate the leaders involved in the sale of Telikom.

He says voters should take careful note of politicians involved in such decisions, adding that they should never return to public office because they are an embarrassment to PNG.
