3:45 pm on 8 December 2004

The budget minister of French Polynesia, Georges Puchon, has been prevented from entering the data processing centre in Papeete.

A group of people demanding the dissolution of the assembly told him his government was not elected but came to power by buying the vote of one member of the assembly.

Mr Puchon was told by the occupiers that they have the support of more than 42,000 people who signed a petition for the dissolution and therefore won't recongnise him as a minister.

He had a bailiff ascertain that he was prevented from entering the building.
