Fiji's auditor general has highlighted past and present senior staff of the Prime Minister's Office who have not paid back advances taken from public funds.

Fiji TV reports that among those named are the current chief executive of the Prime Minister's Office, Jioji Kotobalavu, and a former deputy secretary and now chief executive of Airports Fiji Limited, Ratu Sakiusa Tuisolia.

Also named is the Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry's son, Rajendra, who was private secretary to the prime minister before Mr Chaudhry was deposed in the May 2000 coup.

Although Rajendra Chaudhry now lives in Australia, his small debt remains unpaid.

Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase's private secretary, Pene Nonu, and his personal assistant, Suliasi Ditoka, also have unpaid debts against their names.
