Australian sought as next Papua New Guinea Solicitor-General

10:32 am on 30 September 2004

The Papua New Guinea government is seeking an Australian to fill the post of Solicitor-General under the recently agreed Enhanced Co-Operation programme between the two countries.

An advertisement in an Australian newspaper says Papua New Guinea is looking for a senior lawyer with significant experience representing government clients.

It says the post will be for a period of two years.

The ad says the successful candidate will provide leadership, and develop the professional skills of government lawyers in PNG.

It says information sessions will be held in Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne, with the first in Sydney next Tuesday.

The deadline for candidates for these sessions passed yesterday.
