American Samoa Power Authority urges water conservation

7:24 am on 27 September 2004

The American Samoa Power Authority is asking for the public's help in conserving water because of very low rainfall in the last few months.

The Acting Executive Director of ASPA, Fonoti Perelini Perelini says they have had to shut down a few underground water wells because the chloride levels were too high.

October is when the rainy season starts, but with the poor rainfall count the ASPA is advising that it is best to conserve now.

Residents have been asked to fix faulty taps and toilet leaks and not to wash their vehicles as often.
