French Polynesia's President Oscar Temaru is continuing an official official trip to France.
It's Mr Temaru's second such visit since he took office in June included a meeting with the French Foreign Minister, Michel Barnier.
An official statement says France wants to increase its presence in the Pacific and in order to do so, counts on French Polynesia as an observer member of the Pacific Islands Forum.
The foreign minister says he'll do all he can to help on measures to encourage Chinese visitors and reach a tuna fishing agreement with Kiribati.
The Tahitipresse news agency reports Mr Temaru's plan to build an international airport in the Marquesas could be funded by the European Development Fund alongside the construction of a permanent fishing port.
