FBI asked to help in pirating investigation in American Samoa

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation has been asked to launch an inquiry into the alleged pirating of videos and DVDs in American Samoa.

It comes after police raided four video shops last month.

Congressman Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin says he's asking the FBI to use federal pirating laws to carry out the investigation because American Samoa lacks the appropriate legislation.

Police say that in one of the shops computer equipment was used to download videos, DVDs and CDs.

Thousands of dollars in cash was also confiscated in the raid and Faleomavaega says the FBI has also been asked to look at money laundering charges.
