Aloha Airlines fare cut coincides with troop training

7:32 am on 28 August 2004

Aloha Airlines is hoping to cash in on the recent deployment of American Samoan reservists for military training in Hawaii.

The carrier is now offering a US$498 round-trip fare between Pago Pago and Honolulu but valid only until the eightth of October.

An airline spokesman Stu Glauberman says Aloha's getting a lot of requests for special fares, from families of American Samoa army reservists, currently training in Honolulu.

Mr Glauberman says the special fare which is now valid, is not just for military families but all residents of American Samoa.

He says the airline will try and accommodate as many passengers as possible on this special fare.

Soldiers from American Samoa were mobilised to Honolulu for training last week and will be deployed to Iraq early next year, along with troops from Hawaii, Guam and Saipan.
