The Israeli ambassador visiting Solomon Islands says he is no objection to the Palestinian Authority seeking diplomatic ties with Honiara.

But Michael Ronen has told journalists that it would be advisable to wait until a Palestinian state was set which he said will be happen sooner or later.

His comment comes after the Solomon Islands prime minister, Sir Allan Kemakeza, said the Palestinians had approached him on the matter.

Mr Ronen said he would be interested to know how far the discussions had come.
