The Papua New Guinea Opposition has accused the country's leadership of attempting to control the democratic process.
Opposition MPs say the Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare, sought advice from former Malaysian prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad on how to control the country's key democratic institutions.
The Opposition MP Jamie Maxtone-Graham says Sir Michael Somare has already established inappropriate control over parliament to avoid a no-confidence motion.
Mr Maxtone-Graham says Sir Michael's now attempting to influence the police and judiciary.
Sir Michael this week staved off the threat off a no-confidence vote when the government adjourned parliament until November.
