Pacific Arts festival midway through programme

6:11 am on 28 July 2004

The Pacific Festival of the Arts in Palau is midway through its programme.

It has attracted huge crowds as participants from throughout the region as festivities and displays continue.

The festival aims to regenerate, nurture and celebrate Pacific culture as Sara Vui Talitu reports.

"Tattooing has been one of the highlights midway into the festival, with many putting on a brave face to take advantage of so many talented artists being here. The dance stage continues to be a popular spot to relax and enjoy different performances, and film showings from Fiji, Samoa and New Zealand have also been drawcards. And people are also interested in the peace mat weavers, and to see how the canoes that are being carved out will turn out, when they are unveiled on Friday."
