Solomon Islands Governor-General to be sworn in tomorrow

The new Governor General in Solomon Islands, Nathaniel Waena, will be sworn in tomorrow during the nation's independence anniversary celebrations in the capital, Honiara.

Mr Waena replaces Sir John Ini Lapli, who completes his five-year term today.

In a ceremony today at Government House, Mr Waena was officially awarded the Cross of Solomon Islands, for long and distinguished service to the country and its people, through his involvement in public administration, provincial government and national politics.
