Solomons MP includes opposition leader in re-shuffled cabinet

The Solomon Islands opposition leader, John Garo, has crossed the floor to become Minister for State Assisting the Prime Minister.

Solomon Islands Broadcasting says Mr Garo's appointment came as prime minister, Sir Allan Kemakeza, announced a reshuffle of cabinet portfolios.

Michael Maina retains the Police, National Security and Justice ministry and Alex Bartlett retains Agriculture.

Paul Maenu'u takes over Fisheries; Commerce, Industries and Employment goes to Walton Neazon; Clement Rojumana is the new minister of Provincial Government; Nelson Kile takes over Home Afffairs and Augustine Taneko becomes the new minister for National Reconciliation and Peace
