Politicians from New Zealand and Palau are told holding what is being billed as a traditional political meeting near the Palau capital, Koror.
Our news editor, Walter Zweifel, who is travelling with the New Zealand party, says the gathering marks the start of official engagements of New Zealand foreign minister, Phil Goff's tour of Micronesia.
"The talks are being be hosted by Palau's Vice-President Sandra Pierantozzi and its Foreign Minister Temmy Schmull. The meeting is aimed at broadening bilateral contacts between leaders of the two countries and is also be attended by members of Palua's Senate and House Foreign Relations Committee. Joining Mr Goff on the New Zealand side are six members of parliament from six different parties. Regional issues are also likely to be raised as New Zealand has been spearheading reforms of the Pacific Islands Forum whose newest member is Palau. This is underscored by the presence in Palau of the Forum secretary general Greg Urwin.."
