Former American Samoan top leader Galea'i buried

The first woman to serve as lieutenant governor of American Samoa, Gaoioi Galea'i, has been buried at her home in Nu'uuli-tai after her body was taken from the hospital this morning.

Mrs. Galea'i passed away in late April.

Attending the funeral were Governor Togiola Tulafono as well as local traditional, political and church leaders of the territory.

All flags in the territory were flown at half mast beginning five days before her funeral and continuing until 6pm on the evening of her internment.

She is survived by six children, more adopted children, grand-children and great-grand children.
