An Australian newspaper report says Fiji is among a group of countries receiving stolen cars.

The Brisbane Courier-Mail says cars stolen in Malaysia are being shipped to Fiji, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa.

The newspaper says Malaysian police have confirmed this, adding that the cars are modified before shipment through Singapore.

The trade in stolen vehicles is reported to involve Mercedes and up-market models of Toyota, Honda and Nissan.
