American Samoan treasury department reluctant to be audited

American Samoa's auditor says the Treasury Department is the worst offender in turning down audit requests.

George Webster says audits provide accountability and ensure good governance.

He says the senate select investigative committee appeared supportive and appreciative of his call for more legal powers to enforce audits.

The Audit Office will carry out an audit on the Development Bank of American Samoa next week.
