American Samoa's governor, Togiola Tulafono, has said his administration is ready to give financial assistance to the government owned LBJ Medical Centre to ensure health care needs are met.

He said the hospital needs good and experienced doctors and specialists and the territorial government is prepared to provide up to a million US dollars to help the hospital recruit such staff.

Togiola says a million dollars can always be found, but lost lives are irreplaceable.

The LBJ Medical Centre is currently facing four lawsuits in relation to the deaths of an adult and three babies at the hospital
