Bomb threat empties Fiji court

7:41 am on 24 April 2004

A telephoned bomb threat at the court complex in Fiji's western city of Lautoka forced the sudden adjournment of all cases on trial yesterday.

The Fiji Sun reports that the caller first established that it was the courts he was calling, before making the bomb threat.

Police sealed off the courts as a military bomb disposal squad searched the buildings but nothing was found.

Three cases which were being heard in the Lautoka magistrate's and High Courts had to be adjourned until Monday.
