The US Navy has discharged at least six sailors stationed on Guam for abusing drugs.

A dozen others have been charged after testing positive in a random test last year, for substances including methamphetamine, marijuana and Ecstasy.

A court martial found Petty Officer Brandon Letson guilty of distribution and possession of controlled substances, and he was sentenced to 10 months of confinement in addition to a discharge for bad conduct.

The navy says all the sailors involved in the drugs bust were stationed on submarine squadron fifteen or the navy security forces.

A spokesman, Lieutenant Arwen Consaul, said law enforcement authorities were trying to find out where the drugs came from.
