The Solomon Islands police minister, Michael Maina, says there will be an investigation into the role of cabinet in approving claims by former militants and police officers.

Mr Maina says the payments in questions were made before he assumed the portfolio.

The acting police Commissioner, Ben McDevitt, won't say, what, or if any, investigations are been carried out into the alleged misappropriations
