Fiji appoints committee to review tax regime

10:22 am on 24 March 2004

The Fiji government has set up an eight-member committee to review the country's tax regime.

The finance minister, Ratu Jone Kubuabola, says such a step would give Fiji a more competitive tax regime in an evolving global trading environment.

The committee will seek submissions and conduct public hearings before presenting its report in September.

This will allow the government to consider some of these issues for inclusion in the 2005 budget, when it's tabled in November.
