The Bougainville Revolutionary Army in Papua New Guinea has destroyed 58 of its guns by throwing them into the sea.

The Post Courier reports that the BRA Chief of Defence, Ishmael Toroama, destroyed 23 of his weapons, which included machine guns, in Loloha.

The guns had been with Mr Toroama for the past 16 years.

And, three trunks of weapons were loaded into a helicopter and disposed of into the sea in the Bana district.

Only Mekamui defence commander, Moses Pipiro, has yet to surrender his weapons.
