Pacific Islands Forum summit may be in Samoa

Samoan Government officials say they are waiting for confirmation from the Pacific Islands Forum chairperson, New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark, that Samoa host this year's leader's summit.

The meeting was scheduled to be held on Niue in August but the destruction caused on the island by Cyclone Heta last month has made that impossible.

Samoa last hosted the Forum of 16 countries in 1987.

Local reports say this year's meeting will be held in Samoa, but the Prime Minister's Office says they still ned to get the nod from Miss Clark.
