NZ government called on to increase overseas aid spending

9:11 am on 10 February 2004

New Zealand's Council for International Development will launch a campaign to today encourage the New Zealand Government to increase its spending on overseas aid.

Currently New Zealand provides point 22 of one percent of its Gross National Income, but CID wants this upped to point seven by 2015.

The Executive Director of CID Rae Julian says New Zealand has committed to reaching this percentage at a number of UN conferences.
