The cut price airline, Virgin Blue, could be flying from Australia to New Caledonia by June this year.

Virgin Blue is currently negotiating terms with the New Caledonian government and international airport authorities.

New Caledonia is regarded as an expensive destination, but a company spokesperson says the no-frills Virgin Blue service will target a different market, from that being currently serviced by Air Caledonia International and Qantas.
