American Samoan shooting case may be reopened

In American Samoa, five new eyewitnesses have reportedly come forward to help prosecutors put together a new case against shooting suspect Marlon Uli.

The Samoa Post newspaper says new evidence has been uncovered by investigators from five new witnesses.

Uli faced murder charges for the shooting death late last year of Maalona Felisi.

But the charges were dismissed by the High Court last month after key witnesses in the case, either recanted their statements or refused to testify saying they and their families had been threatened.

The newspaper claims that at least two more individuals could face criminal prosecutions.

The atterney general's office declined to comment.
