A lawsuit has been filed with the federal court in Honolulu by Hawaiian Airlines against its former chairman and chief executive officer, John Adams.

The Airlines' bankruptcy trustee, Joshua Gotbaum, said the lawsuit seeks to recover 28 million US dollars paid to Adams and other shareholders.

It also names his investment group and Hawaiian Holdings.

Adams remains Chief Executive Officer of Hawaiian Holdings, which owns the common stock of Hawaiian Airlines.

In a statement issued over the weekend, Adams said he saved the airline from liquidation in 1996 by reinvesting 200 million US dollars of cash flow in the airline.
